Every Tuesday - Bingo Every Tuesday night at 7:00 pm---Doors open at 6:00 pm at the Reading Community center in Reading! Have a payout of over $900 each week! A progressive Jackpot which is at 50 numbers for $500 next week— A odd/even game which pays from $150 to over $200 each week! Play 26 games each night! The Reading community center uses profits from Bingo to help keep the doors open, we have the Elk Tip Toppers 4H club, Reading First Responders, Reading Booster Club, Senior Citizens and different groups use the center. Cottonwood-Jackson Community Health is offering free radon test kits to homeowners in Cottonwood and Jackson Counties this month, which is Radon Action Month. The Minnesota Department of Health recommends that all homes in Minnesota be tested for radon. To obtain a test kit, contact Cottonwood-Jackson Community Health at 507-847-2366 or 507-831-1987, or stop by the offices in Jackson or Windom.

The Prudence Lodge #97 AF&AM, Windom, is sponsoring a fund raising drive for the Jackson County Food Shelves. Jars have been placed at local businesses including J & K Discount Tire, P&J’s Mini Mart, Commercial Bank, Heron Lake Grocery and the Tri County News to collect donations. All funds donated will be matched up to $5,000 by the Masonic Lodge and then matched 2-1 by Minnesota Masonic Charities. Every $1 donated with turn into $6 with the matching funds. So up to $30,000 can be raised the the Jackson County Food Shelves through this fund raising effort by the Lodge. So look for the donation jars at all local business and give generously to help the local food shelves in these times of need. ALL donations will stay in Jackson County. Donations may also be mailed to: J & K Discount Tire, 1010 Chapman Ave., Heron Lake, MN 56137. Checks payable to Prudence Lodge.

Friday January 6th- Beginning Experience of Southwest Minnesota will be hosting a Singles Dance on Friday evening, January 6th at the Hadley Community Center. The dance will run from 8:30PM until 12:30AM and music will be provided by Mylan Ray. All singles 21 and older are welcome.

Friday January 6th-The Dundee Legion will host a Bullhead Feed on Friday evening, January 6th. The menu includes bullheads, potato salad, baked beans, and a beverage. Serving will begin at 4:30PM and continue until the food is gone. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for ages 12 and under

Sunday January 8th-The American Lutheran Church in Windom will host their Annual Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner on Sunday, January 8th from 5PM until 7PM. Tickets will be available at the door. The cost is $12 for Adults and children ages 12 and under can eat for $4.

Tuesday January 10 -Are you looking for a unique Christmas gift? Purchase a trip for yourself or somebody else and join MN West as we take our first trip to the Textile Center in Minneapolis on January 19th to discover what area fiber artists have created. It is the only facility in the Midwest that represents all fiber art forms. A Common Thread is the exhibition of all of these efforts which is featured in January and February. You will also have the opportunity to choose one of four classes related to fiber art ( geared toward beginners) Registration and trip details found by following this link. We will be picking groups up along Highway 60 depending on who is attending. We have a stop in Windom already planned. The fee includes your transportation, tour fee, class and supplies. Lunch can be purchased for an additional fee. Questions can be directed to Roxanne.hayenga@mnwest.edu. Please feel free to forward this to customers or others you think may be interested. Registrations due January 10. A minimum of 30 participants are needed for this to become a reality.

Thru January 13th-Donations of gently used winter wear, coats, snow pants, hats, mittens, scarves, and snow boots will be accepted through Friday January 13th at the BARC in Windom for the Cottonwood County Coats for Kids, Teens, and Adults with the distribution on Saturday, January 14th from 9AM until Noon at the Windom Middle-High School Gym Lobby.

It will be held at Hickory Lodge, at 8:00 a.m. The cost of attending the Legislative Breakfast is $3.00. Invited to attend: Senator Doug Magnus, District 22, Representative Rod Hamilton, District 22B, and Representative Joe Schomacker, District 22A. At the breakfast, discussion will be held on the 2012 Legislative Session. A question and answer period will follow. Saturday January 14th- The Boyden Firemens Auxiliary is sponsoring a Soup and Dessert supper on Saturday, January 14th from 5PM until 7:30PM at the Demco Community Center in Boyden. Everyone will also have the opportunity to try the Distracted Driving Simulator provided by Sanford Health and Perspective Insurance. A free will offering will be accepted with all proceeds to go towards Fire and Ambulance Equipment. Everyone is invited to attend.

Sunday January 15th-The Green Earth Players in Luverne will be hosting audtions for their presentation of “Radio Suspense Theater on Sunday and Monday January 15th and 16th. Auditions will run from 4PM until 6PM on Sunday and 5PM until 7PM on Monday at the GEP Building in Luverne. The production requires 15 adults between ages 20 and 66 including one female singer and one male piano player.
- Sunday January 29th-The Windom Figure Skating Club will host a Free Skating Party on Sunday, January 29th from 1PM until 2:30PM at the Windom Arena. Everyone is welcome.

Monday January 30th-The Sonshine School of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom will host a Chili Feed Fundraiser in the church fellowship hall on Monday January 30th from 11AM until 1PM. Everyone is welcome.

Tuesday January 31st- There will be an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, January 31st at the Windom Community Center. The blood drive will run from 1:30PM until 6:30PM. All donors are welcome.
